My first Mother's Day, was a great one. I have an actual deep appreciation for what Motherhood really means this time, and I am super grateful for my Mom, and Andrew's Mom and everything they have done for us, more than ever this year!
This year, this is what Mother's Day means to me:
~Having a buddy 24-7
~Lots of sleepless nights, resulting in tiredness being a state of being.
~Having lots of reasons to not be selfish
~Getting slobbery "kisses"
~ Having "love drool" spots on my shirt at all times
~Feeling like the most important person to someone everyday.
~Being an absolute germ-a-phobe now.
~Finally feeling like there isn't a hole in my heart aching for a baby (or at least not as big)
~Feeling my love for my little family grow to a whole other level. :)
Andrew made the day very special for me. He gave me some gorgeous flowers for our porch, a plaque for our home with a bunch of quotes I love, and a gift card to get my hair done. I talk about wanting to get my hair done all the time but Andrew knows I never like justifying the money to actually do it, especially since I don't work, so he got me the gift card and told me to use it specifically on that. He really is so sweet. But my favorite things he gave me weren't really monetary at all, He wrote me a beautiful card, and helped Boston sign it, and write, "I love my Mommy" it was all scribbly looking but absolutely adorable, and last but not least he cooked me breakfast. Yeah I love food, but it wasn't the food that made the breakfast great (sorry babe. lol) It was coming downstairs and seeing him trying to scramble eggs, and toast bread, and kind of set the table all at the same time while talking to Boston who was chillin in his bouncer. This is something I feel like I do fairly often so I have it down to an art for the most part, and I'm used to juggling lots of different tasks. But my sweet husband does not cook...ever...ok maybe 5 times in the last year. So when he does I am soo grateful, it's very memorable, and I usually blog about it. lol
We visited each of our Moms and it was a great day. We went to my parents ward first because my Mom was teaching the Relief Society lesson and I don't get the opportunity to hear her teach a lesson very often. Wait, let me re-phrase that because she is CONSTANTLY teaching me lessons, which I love, but I don't get to hear it in a church setting very often. She was so cute during her lesson. She makes me laugh the way she does these little things. Her lesson was on Christ being the rock and foundation in our lives. And also prayer, and as she always says "The family that prays together, stays together." It was a very spiritual lesson, I loved it! She brought the roses my Dad gave her that morning, for her lesson center piece and before church had asked my Dad if since they were given to HER she could do what she wanted with them right?! He of course said yes, and at the end of her lesson she gave her roses away to the sisters. Several of them are widows and I'm sure they appreciated it very much. That shows perfectly how my Mom is. She's completely selfless. She gives and gives, and show so much love. she has such a sweet spirit about her... I hope I can be more like her.
Then we went back to my parents house after and I got to talk to my sweet little brother Blake who's on his mission. He is amazing, and doing so well. I'm very proud of him. I'm glad Andrew was there during my designated 8 minutes to talk to him, because I always seem to freeze up under pressure like that. ha I mean what do you say to someone you get to talk to once a year that you love and want to tell all kinds of things but you only have 8 MINUTES!!! lol Andrew knows the missionary experience and knew just what to ask, and talk about. :)
I ended the day reading Boston a bed time story, tucking him in, and feeling very grateful to now BE a Mother, to have a Mother, a Mother-in-law, and of course could not forget to thank my Heavenly Father that night in my prayers for a wonderful Mother in Heaven. :)
You're mother sounds like a sweet lady. That was very kind of her to give her roses away.
ReplyDeleteI love Dolores's outfit and the picture with her, Andrew and Boston. She's a great lady. I wish I could go to Guatemala with her again.
What does the last phrase in your post mean, "and of course could not forget to thank my Heavenly Father that night in my prayers for a wonderful Mother in Heaven."?
Thanks Priscilla! I love those pics too, and yes my Mother is soo sweet! :) Sorry, that was a little confusing at the end. I just meant I am grateful for my Heavenly Mother, just as I know we have a Heavenly Father (God) and I'm grateful for him as well.
