| First time he noticed himself in the mirror. |
The Zantac really has made a huge difference for Max. I am hoping that he will still grow out of his reflux, but for now, I will keep using it. I only use it morning and night, and have continued propping him up after feedings, but I haven't even had to be as diligent with that, because he has been doing so much better. He only spits up a little bit here and there each day, and it's no big deal. SOO glad he's doing better with that! As far as health issues though, he does have cradle cap pretty bad. It kind of comes and goes, and he's had it since birth pretty much. I think it's because he has a lot of hair and just a very dry scalp. His doc recommended using Head and Shoulders shampoo and that has seemed to help a bit but not as much as I would like. He also has had quite a bit of baby acne here and there. I just make sure and wash his face everyday to help with that. But I think it could also be eczema. Poor guy. It did get pretty bad for awhile.
Despite those things he sure is handsome!!! I seriously find myself gooing over how handsome he is at least a few times per day! And I am allowed to do that, cause I'm his Mom. :)
The sleeping is going pretty well! I haven't exactly been able to follow babywise as well as I did with Boston, but I have not given up on it. Because Boston is such a great sleeper and I give a lot of the credit to following babywise, so there is no way I was just going to give up even though Max was struggling with it. His biggest problem is he takes about 30 minute naps--MAYBE 45 minutes. Pretty frustrating because when he wakes up it's not quite time to feed him, but he's hungry cause there's nothing else to do, so I'm nursing every two hours pretty much, and it makes it hard to get anything done. I THINK it's because 30-45 minutes is the typical "sleep cycle" time. Then you transition into deeper or lighter sleep. But he wakes up at that time instead and can't get himself back to sleep. I have tried letting him cry it out and it doesn't always work. But just the last few days he has gotten a lot better. He will take at least one 2 hour nap per day, and the shorter naps are getting longer so that is great! Also he is getting used to falling asleep on his own!! I take him into his room, sing him one lullaby and rock him while I sing it (maybe 2 mins total, UNLESS I want to rock him longer) then I just put him in his bed and wind his mobile and walk out of the room. He is ALWAYS awake when I lay him down. And at first he would cry or fuss for 15-20 mins, then it gradually got shorter and shorter, and the crying wasn't really even crying, and today, he didn't even cry going down for one of his naps, or bed time!! Now that is what I call progress!!! Of course he would love to be held and rocked to sleep every time, but now he knows how to soothe himself, and I'm not obligated to a 20 minute ordeal every time he needs to go down, which would be soo hard with Boston in there, pulling at me to come and play. Despite his short naps, his night time sleep couldn't be better!! He goes down about 830 or 9 and sleeps until 5, eats and goes back to sleep until 830! It's fabulous!!! He's always been a good sleeper at night, it's just been hard GETTING him to sleep, but even that has gotten SO much better! So, you win some you lose some, but I'll take it!!! Now I am just trying to get on more of a routine during the day for set nap times, so that my day is more predictable. But as of now, whenever he wakes up, he goes down for a nap about an hour and twenty minutes later.
| Grandpa Jasmer got him to sleep and built him a little nest to sleep in on their bed. He looked pretty comfy. haha |
Whenever we are all at the Jasmers we like to get pics of the babies and see how much they're all growing. This time proved to be a bit more difficult. It started out OK. Then as the girls got more upset Max just didn't know what to think of those girly screams... ha ha cute pics!
Milestones: Other than his adorable smiles, (my favorite milestone!) he is getting better with tummy time, he has a strong neck! He is holding onto toys well. He loves to stand up and feel like he's big, he's "talking" a little bit, and I think he likes to hear his own voice ha ha. He has great eye focus and has ALWAYS got his eyes on me if I'm in the room. I'll just be cleaning or moving around and I'll look at him sitting in his bouncer and he's just staring right at me. Then once I make eye contact he gives me a big smile. ha ha such a cutie!!
Boston can't WAIT until he's big enough to interact with more! He will take any chance he can get to hold him, give him kisses, hand him toys, or pass him the ball. He loves to help throw away his diapers into the "bargage--TRASH!" as he calls it. :)
I sure love these handsome boys!! And I couldn't be happier that things are going so well!! Such a difference from the first two months. When I have another baby I am going to try and remember that everyone in the family gets 90 days to adjust!! And I'm not going to have any expectations or how things should be, so that I won't feel frustrated when they go otherwise. I have also started working out this month, and that has helped soo much with the post partum blues!! Everything is on the up and up! :)
